USA Templars with Project Care case Founder Connie Bellows
Austin Texas – October 12, 2012
USA Templars met with Connie Bellows, founder of Project Care case. Project Care case is a program that aids the unfortunate children who have no belongings when moved to a Foster home. Project Care case puts cases together for a child that has nothing but the clothes on their back. SKTUSA is proud to work with PCC to help fund and enable those that are of the children who are abandoned and without basic needs.
Connie Bellows was surprised but very happy to work with the SKTUSA. Bellows discussed her projects:
” Dear Scottish Knights Templar USA Priory of St. Jude, we wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your attention and contribution towards the children in foster care. We would love to have your continued support and awareness to help aid the orphans and children within the foster care system.
Children are in foster care for many reason. Often times it is because of the economic stresses that a family endures. This can lead to abuse on a child. A child is removed because there are allegations of physical, sexual, neglect, abanonment and emotional abuse. When a child enters the foster care system, they are often arrive with no personal belongings. That is because they are removed from school or a hostile home environment-so the removal process is done within a matter of minutes. This is to prevent more trauma to the child. Once placed into foster care, these children may be in multiple consecutive placements and travel with their limited belongings in trash bags or boxes. Nothing personal/Nothing to call their very own. Project Care Case feels blessed to be able to provide the following items to children upon entering foster care:
*Suitcases with wheels
*Two changes of new clothing,
*Socks and undergarment
*Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc)
*Age friendly Bible
ALL items are then personalized with the child’s name on them giving them that sense of belonging which is hugely critical when these children are in a foster placement so unfamiliar to them.”
USA Prior agreed to place this and other organisations on the agenda at the SKTUSA conclave on October 13 in Austin, Texas.
USA Prior stated: “I like Connie’s sincere, wholehearted efforts for he orphans, and foster children. Connie had endured this herself as a child, and we Templars are sworn to protect and aid the poor, the sick and elderly. I look forward on behalf of SKT and possibly my colleagues for a global project.”
Bellows stressed that any type of donation helps the cause:
” There are many ways in which someone can be of service to these children. Contributions can be made online via PayPal. Or, mailed to 3933 Links Lane, Round Rock, Texas 78664. Please make out to Project Care Case. We happily accept Walmart gift cards and the items contained in a Care Case. NO contribution is too small. This is a “small” way to make a lasting impression on the lives of these children who have suffered so much in their young lives.
Currently, we are servicing Arrow Child and Family, The Bair Foundation, A World for Children, Starry, Texas Children’s Baptist Home and The Giocosa Foundation. Our Care Case have been distributed between Williamson and Travis Counties. A few of the agencies we provide for have offices in other cities. So, Care Cases have gone as far as San Antonio, Houston and the Dallas areas. “
